Posture, fascia, and core body strength
United we stand: posture, fascia, and core body strength shape us all.
Good posture protects the body from mechanical stress and strain. Especially important to athletes, good posture enhances performance and efficiency.
Postural deviation (which may stem from bad posture) precedes a host of physical ailments. These include local bone loss, poor digestion, degenerative disc disease, impingement syndromes, osteoarthritis, and headaches.
The body’s fascial system reflects, and eventually perpetuates postural habits. Fascia provides structure, and organization; surrounding all organs and muscles, it holds them together as a unit, and separates them into parts. Lacking contractile units (as in muscle) fascia adjusts length and shape slowly over time.
Gravity and weakening postural muscles (core body strength), accentuate problematic postures, especially as we age. The fascia slowly adapts to this contracted position. Eventually, when we try to sit or stand upright, shortened fascia prevent this from happening.
Our approach
We instruct you on how to stretch this critical system so that your body may reclaim use of malfunctioning regions. After the fascial system is released we offer instruction to strengthen key core body muscles. Exercise therapy, combined with massage technique to promote circulation and movement, establish a foundation to prepare you for the best quality of life in the next decade.
